General Douglas MacArthur, the "American Caesar," is a highly controversial figure in American military history. He was a fearless soldier, a flamboyant character, and a dramatic speaker. He played a major role in shaping American history in the 20th century in peace and in war. Bill Young brings MacArthur to life as the General talks about his heritage, family, heroes, the American soldier, fitness, the Far East, peace, and duty. Bill Young's portrayal of MacArthur is entertaining, educational, patriotic, and inspiring.
When Bill Young began to put his military costume for MacArthur together, someone said, "It will be easy. Just get a khaki shirt and pants." On the contrary, it took Bill months of research and shopping. Bill finally found an officer's style tropical shirt and pants from similar dye lots and had to special order brown dress shoes. The tie and belt are WWII army surplus. The five collar stars and the corncob pipe were bought at the MacArthur Memorial Museum in Norfolk, Virginia.
The hardest job was finding the correct hat. Before World War II, MacArthur was a field marshal in the Philippine Army. While in the Philippines, he designed his own hat and wore it for the rest of his military career. Bill's exact copy was made in Germany and has a black visor, gold chin strap, hand embroidered eagle, and scrambled eggs on the side. Bill completes his costume with an original Order of the Rising Sun with Pawlonia flowers. The Japanese Nation presented the decoration to the General in 1952, and it was one of his prized possessions.

"I had the pleasure of seeing Bill Young's performance of his first person impression of General Douglas MacArthur. As is always the case with Bill, he had carefully researched his subject… As a result, he easily had his audience believing that they were hearing the REAL Douglas MacArthur… I highly recommend Bill Young, alias Douglas MacArthur."
- Charles F. Bryan, Jr., Director and CEO, Virginia Historical Society
